Randonnée - Autumn Walk Donner Lake - Sat. Sept. 28th

Inspired by the success of April's Walk for Peace (Bougez pour la Paix), the Alliance Française de Reno is organizing a series of casual hikes for all ages and fitness levels. These hikes will take place in our beautiful surrounding areas, promoting a healthy lifestyle and fostering community spirit.

Join us for this exclusive nature walk at Donner Lake Memorial Park, led by our Board Member and passionate hiker, Mavis LePage Leathley.

Event Date: September 28th, 2024  

Time: 10:30 am to approximately 1:30 pm, including time for a BYO picnic lunch.

Donner Lake , a historical landmark, is located in the scenic Sierra Nevada mountains 30 minutes from Reno and 20 minutes from Lake Tahoe.

We will be walking the Split Rock Trail which is about a 2-mile walk.  There are some slight elevation gains, but not too difficult.  

Meeting options:

For those meeting us at Donner Lake:

     *  we will meet at 10:30 am at Donner Memorial State Park in front of the museum.

For those who would like to carpool:

      *  we will meet at 9:30 a.m at Starbuck's at Keystone (690 Keystone Avenue) near In & Out Burger, and we will leave at about 9:45 a.m. 

It will take about 35 minutes to get to Donner Memorial State Park.

Directions: 

*  Drive West on Interstate 80 for about 30 minutes. 

*  Take the off ramp to Donner Pass Road and then turn left onto Donner Pass Road. 

*  About a half mile on your left. 

*  Turn into the Donner Memorial State Parking lot. 

*  It costs $10 ( $9 for seniors) to park your car and this helps pay for the museum and the park.

Note:  We can converse in either French or English.

After the walk, we will enjoy a picnic by the lake and take advantage of the exceptional fall scenery and weather.

Bring what you would like to eat and drink.
