Join Rachel Villéger for a discussion with Professor Michael Mannino, Director, AI Centers at Miami Dade College, on the basics of AI and how we can begin to think of using AI in foreign language education. Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 9am PT / 12pm ET.
Dr. Mannino is currently Director of Programs at the Institute for Data Science and Computing at the University of Miami, working on projects involving artificial intelligence, in various domains including smart cities, bioinformatics, healthcare, climate change, and ethics. He holds a Ph.D. in neuroscience and complex systems, having researched networks of the human brain involved in perception, memory, attention, with an emphasis on the framework of embodied cognition. Michael also has a Masters’s degree in philosophy, specializing in philosophy of mind, consciousness, and science, and is a professor of philosophy and critical thinking for 10 years, teaching ethics and moral reasoning, philosophy, logic, as well as comparative religion. Michael is also very passionate about science communication, transhumanism and exponential technologies, AI, and space science.
